Under communism, food is made avoid punishment, and only just enough. Thus the people will always starve.

Only in capitalist societies do you see fat people.

An obesity epidemic is not a sign of a successful system.

The obesity epidemic is most apparent in the US, but the US is not the only capitalist country in the world. I’d say obesity is a feature unique to the US, not capitalism.

Besides, the reason people are fat in the US is largely because of corn subsidies, which is like, pretty un-capitalist, so I don’t really know what point you’re trying to make here.

      Under actual real communism? No.

Are you actually doing a “not true communism” bit right now?

There’s a difference between theoretical communism and communism as it was/is applied, just like there’s a difference between theoretical capitalism and the way it was/is applied. What you’re talking about (food is produced because of fear of punishment) is the application, but not how it’s supposed to work in theory, just like monopolies being broken by the government is the application of capitalism, not how it’s supposed to work in theory.

Theory capitalism is trash. Its company towns and pinkertons.

The best part of capitalist systems like America is unintended. People rise up, feelings go above personal profit, they form unions, they protest, they do so many thing. If capitalism worked as theory, unions wouldnt form because scabs and union busters.

Thats the unintentional brilliance, people are allowed to do as they will, and people arent stupid. Individuals can be, but the entire population isnt.

I’m not here to evaluate the value of it, I’m here to say that there’s a difference between theory and practice and when talking about “real X” what we’re talking about is theoric.

If I said “Under capitalism monopolies get broken by the government” you would tell me “No, under capitalism monopolies are the end result and what we’ve got now isn’t true capitalism”, just like I did when correcting you.
