The incompetence of the US prison and justice system does that explaining just fine. For me to fully believe the theory, I’d need to think that our justice system is more malicious than incompetent.

But then the feds ripped up the agreement, tried him, convicted him, and he went to prison. Based on the conviction, new civil suits came rolling in and I think he realized not only was he completely fucked, but he would never be wealthy again.
And the footage from the cameras in his cell were coincidently erased?
I think the guards testified they were busy looking at motorcycles and vacation spots when this happened. You know, things people may look at when they suddenly came across a lot of money to spend, lol.
