I wish we could re-shuffle the players so everyone got appropriate numbers for their positions.
2 is typically an RB. So, Timber maybe.
3 is a LB. If Tierney is going it’s going up for grabs. Maybe Zinchenko gets it, maybe not because he doesn’t play as an orthodox LB.
4 is sometimes a DM, sometimes a CB, depending on the country. For Arsenal it has often been a DM. White has that number now, if he goes back to playing CB again, 4 makes sense.
5 is almost always a CB. Right now it’s Partey who plays as a DM. If he leaves, that number is open again.
6 is often a DM, sometimes a CB, depending on the system. Recently at Arsenal it has been a CB. Gabriel Magelhaes has that number now – one of the few defensive squad numbers that’s reasonable.
7 is a RW. That’s Saka. That’s perfect.
8 is a CM. Right now that’s Odegaard. Not bad, but he really should wear number 10 based on where and how he plays.
9 is a striker. Gabriel Jesus wears that. Perfect.
10 is a playmaker, CAM, inside forward, second striker. Right now that’s ESR. If he were a starter it would probably be a good number for him. We’ll see what happens with his playing time this year.
11 is a left winger. Gabriel Martinelli has that number, which is great.
What I want to do with the big switcharoo:
Saliba’s number 2 -> either White or Timber.
Tierney’s number 3 (assuming he’s being sold) -> Zinchenko.
White’s number 4 -> Rice.
Partey’s number 5 (if he’s being sold) -> Saliba.
Gabriel Magelheaes keeps his number 6.
Saka keeps his number 7.
Odegaard’s number 8 -> Havertz.
Gabriel Jesus keeps his number 9.
ESR’s number 10 -> Odegaard.
Gabriel Martinelli keeps his number 11.

Nah give the 10 to Saliba, we’ve got precedent for 10 being a CB number anyway
