Tech companies have solved the easy problems of self driving, and did so rapidly. This gives the air of “inevitable progress”. But progress isn’t linear.
It’s the 90/10 problem. You spend 90% of your time solving 10% of the problems.
They’re now hitting the hard problems and we’re seeing the true limitations of the technology.
