The Department of Defense is investing in renewable energy with a goal of getting to 100% carbon free electricity for facilities n 14 states. As one of the largest polluters in the world, it is really great to see initiatives to move the military away from carbon polluting energy.

Nice to see that the DoD is backing away from destroying the environment to focus only on destroying the inhabitants of it.

I think they see dependence on fossil fuels as a strategic liability (which it is).

The world will be much more peaceful when energy can be sourced locally and there is little motivation to go ‘over there’ to get the resources you need to have a society.

Yes. Even though the cynical take is easy, I don’t think it’s the right one. The U.S. military, despite its massive contribution to the problem, has been sounding the alarm bells about climate change for quite some time. Framing the conversation in terms of energy independence and strategic liabilities goes a long way towards convincing those outside of the terminally online bubble.

Depending on how much they spend doing it, destroying inhabitants can also pretty good for the environment 👀
