I have a 7900xt, but I’ll be going back to nvidia. Driver crashes and dual screen issues (i have tried everything) just aren’t worth it.

What dual screen issues are you getting? I’ve honestly had more issues with my dual screens with nvidia drivers in the past.

I’m currently using 2 monitors, 2K, 144&240 Hz, HDMI&DP and there are no issues with my 7800XT so far.

So many i’ve lost count. It’s always driver crashes or timeouts. Never had driver issues with NVIDIA cards in 20 years, both times I had AMD, glitches in games, driver crashes. I’ve done everything. I’m going to replace the card when I can.

I just bought a 7900xt a couple of weeks ago and haven’t had a single crash, so I’m assuming it’s an issue with certain games that I don’t play. I don’t use dual screen though, so maybe that’s where the drivers have issues. If so, they really need to fix that.

Your assumption is false. It’s the drivers across the board, programs etc. AMD/Radeon are famous for driver issues going back to the 00’s. They won’t fix it because they can’t.

Is it really banned though? I just checked on JD.com and all manufacturers are still selling them normally.

Are the cards mostly made outside of mainland China? Or are they banning the import of a product they’re exporting?

They’re banning the GPU package itself so AIC factory in China cannot produce the card anymore.

Love to see more competition between AMD and Nvidia in other aspects than gaming. Competition in general is good for the consumer.

A government banning your product in another country, so people are forced to buy another’s product is the exact opposite of competition.

The GPU core itself is made by TSMC in Taiwan. It’s then added to PCBs in China, Taiwan, and wherever else AIBs operate.

Title says “4090 import ban”, they’re imported from China, not to China.

They’re currently made in Taiwan, no?

e.g. those GPU assembler brands that buy chips from NV to assemble the actual cards to sell to retailers to sell to gamers, they cannot assemble the 4090 anymore because NV can’t sell to them.

Taiwan is only officially part of China, in practice they go their own way.

True story, I just switched to a 7900xtx from a 4090. I hate nvidia drivers, but the final straw was the power connector melting after a year and the card maker seemingly trying to get out of replacing it (they’ve had me take forensic level photos of everything snd keep asking for more).

In my country, the 7900 xtx costs $1000. Meanwhile the cheapest RTX 4090 costs $2000. And you’re telling me for double the price you get only 10% extra performance? LOL NVidia are the biggest scammers and I’m jumping to AMD only for my next build. The “but AMD DRIVERZZZ” meme needs to stop.

Yeah it’s about this now in EU, 1850~ or more for cheapest 4090s and XTX can be had around 1k or less (1100 for the Sapphire Nitro at most). Value is absolutely not worth it so I expect more 7900xtx sales as a result of this. I’d rather spend that extra on a big OLED or more ram/ssd/etc.

You will replace your 7900xtx at some point though where as 4090 users will just turn on dlss. That’s just a straight downgrade.

        Deep Learning Super Smearing?

No thanks, it looks like ass in youtube videos with compression but all the reviewers ‘never notice it’ for some strange reason… they don’t get to keep the card if they do ;)

I’m not a fan of DLSS in most games. I notice the artifacts almost right away. Look at Jedi Survivor with DLSS. Jump in front of anything and it will shimmer.

DLSS is just crutch because they can’t seem to innovate performance with architecture optimization. They have to resort to giant dies or rendering at a lower res and upscaling.

Must feel bad if your sales only go up if the competitor is banned from the market. This is coming from a happy 6800XT user who still cant believe how bad the whole RDNA3 gen has been.

I’d buy one if the 7900xtx would ever actually drop in price. NOT paying 950 for a video card that can be matched by a 4070 ti zotac for $700.
