Surely it would place a massive asterisk on all the trophies won during his time at Man City? In future discussions on the greatest manager would this be a talking point which stains our perception on him? Or will he still be lauded as the greatest by some despite the wider context?
He’d walk away unscathed to the next club with an endless pot of oil money.
So next Newcastle manager being Pep? Loaning Neymar and so on :D That would be just pure comedy.
If they were found guilty of all (they won’t) then he won’t have much of a legacy in the premier league.
We all knew they were cheating even before he got there and he was part of various scandals, being it with referees, corruption, players, shady deals and so on, even from his time at Barcelona and even form his time as a player.
I never considered him the best manager. He is the one willing to do anything it takes and to make his hands dirty, yes.
Agree. He would never take on a lower half PL team, because he would be found out. They can’t afford the bribes and rule breaking to secure success.
No, it’s because he’s way too good for any of them. He’s even way too good for ol’ Yanited, who have a shite Pep wannabee rn. Do you also cry that Messi and Ronaldo are frauds because they only played for the biggest richest clubs and that they would be found out at a smaller club?
Tbf, Fergie was the exact same way and he’s also often included in the conversation. Who do you consider the best? José?
It would make all his achievements at city null and void. If you can’t win within the rules, you are effectively a cheat.
Like Liverpool hacking Man City’s scouting data illegally and then going on to win success.
Glad we can call everyone out for cheating, cheating is cheating and if you can’t play by the rules then your success means nothing.
Well the Liverpool league win already means nothing because of Covid. I often forget it even happened.
You mean the season we had amassed enough points, pre-Covid, to win the league? Literally 25 point ahead in February but ours gets called the Covid title. City in 20-21 played in empty stadiums for about 30 games and it barely gets questioned 😂
I’ve clearly struck a nerve.
The league win that we had wrapped up by Christmas doesn’t count because a literal deadly force of nature tried (and failed) to stop us?
Can I get the number for your copium dealer? Cause it looks like good shit.
I dunno mate. The amount of downvotes kind of suggests that you lot know what I mean.
And yet you are the only one talking about it in this thread.
You just mentioned it you dinny.
Yep, nothing :)
Did that actually happen?
Come on now, how’s Pep got anything to do with the financials. He’s got no clue if they’ve been breaking FFP rules.
Pep had the bank account in Andorra to hide income as alleged by the Spanish tax authorities. The SkySports article re the Man City FFP violations says:
“Allegedly, they did not fully disclose the financial remunerations that were made to one of their managers over a four-year period. The suggestion is that there was a secret contract so one of the managers was getting paid much more than officially stated.”
Who do you suppose that one manager was? One of the assistants probably wouldn’t be getting paid enough to matter. https://www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11679/12804623/man-city-premier-league-charges-explained-what-are-they-what-could-punishment-be-whats-the-timescale
He’s got no clue
hahaha, mate, literally fans have been pointing out irregularities for years now. If Pep couldn’t see them he’s fucking blind.
I remember him saying when all this was starting that he would leave if he thought they were cheating. It’s been obvious since they did cheat and it was only on technicalities they got away the first time. So his legacy regarding his honor, integrity is tainted for sure. Same with players.
100%
My opinion on that statement has always been that he’s being a snake. He knows they cheated, but by saying that he thinks he can jump ship if they’re found guilty and pretend its because he has integrity.
I think his words were if they lied to me (the owners) he would leave. I think the owners have told him they cheated and he worded it like that on purpose
I just hacked your pc and it says your a nonce, police will be round in 15 mins to take you away.
If “obvious” is hacked evidence with no verification then you need to be ready to accept that standard across the board.
Let the process take place and then it will be obvious because if it was obvious this wouldn’t take over 3 years to sort out.

“Obvious they did cheat?”
Do you know something about this case that the general population is not privy to?
Heavily imo
Hes not the one who cheated, he is part of the cheating.
Pep is one of the best managers in the world. Thats why man city need to cheat the money so they can afford the best.
Its like haaland. He still scored all those goals, even if the finances used to build the team were unfair.
Still strange that he always ends up with clubs cheating and all his players diving
Barcelona was buying referees and had a strong relationship with Dr Fuentes when he was there
In theory, it would depend on whether or not it can be proven that he was aware of and/or responsible for any of the violations.
In reality, it will be guilt by association. His ardent supporters will claim innocence, and his detractors will claim he should have known enough to stop it.
He is definitely aware.
Aren’t all the charges raised from before he joined?
Great manager for sure, but I’ve always found the notion that he’s in the same bracket as the all time greats kind of odd. He might end his career winning more trophies than Ferguson did, but he’s not on that level.
Only Brits and Prem fanboys think Ferguson is better than Pep
the financial doping makes that accurate…
Pep has literally never coached even the 2nd richest team in a league
I am biased but why would this taint anything?
The club have been questioned, not the manager or the players. The manager and players still did everything they did last season, regardless of the money within the club. It has nothing to do with the individual achievements but the achievements of the club.
It would void everything that was achieved during the relevant periods. Financial doping is what it is, doping. If you cheated to win in a sport, you didn’t win, and you may as well have not played at all.
Wouldn’t impact what he did to me… spent similar to Man Utd in the same period and look at the difference!
Not at all.
He didnt actively cheat. He just worked with what he got and what the board gave him. His tactical skills arent in question and his job isnt to question the owner and how they do stuff.
Exactly like the players. De Bruyne achieved everything with skill and not because he bribed the ref or cheat in any other way. He and his agents made a deal with the board. How they pay him isnt his concern.
We don’t know whether De Bruyne and Guardiola would even be at City if it weren’t for the cheating. If they’d stayed within the rules, they might not have won the FA in 2011, or the league in 2012 and 2014. Their pull would’ve been seriously diminished, meaning big names like Aguero and Silva could’ve turned them down. They may not have qualified for the Champions League as consistently, further impacting their ability to attract top talent.
We don’t know whether De Bruyne and Guardiola would even be at City if it weren’t for the cheating.
Lol we absolutely do know: they definitely wouldn’t.
There’s no denying his quality as a coach. It would certainly taint his Man City career though.
Turns out Barca was paying refs too.
Pep’s real legacy:
Doped as a player.
Doping scandal in Spain while he was at Barcelona covered up by the country’s govt. (search Ramon Sequra)
Failed to win UCL at Bayern.
115 charges at city.
And even despite all that he is still clearly the best and move innovate manager in the world.
I know this sub wants to write him off because they don’t like him as a person and they don’t like city, but it’s genuinely stupid to pretend the clear management prowess he’s shown.
He was poor at Buyern, he turned them into a weaker side
