The war in Ukraine will not end until the West “abandons its plans” to defeat Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview with Indonesian media on Wednesday.

“[The war] will continue until the West abandons its plans to maintain dominance and its obsession with inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia through the hands of its puppet, Kyiv,” he said.

“There has been no sign of a change in their position and we are seeing how America and its accomplices are continuously pumping weapons into Ukraine and pushing [Zelensky] to continue fighting.”

There would’ve been no war if you didn’t invade Ukraine, you clown.

Read between the lines and he’s admitted to Russia’s defeat with “We would’ve won if Ukraine had not fought back with your assistance”. The rest of the noise is just him crying into his borscht.

And all this with Ukraine hamstrung with lack of equipment & ammo.

“We would’ve won if Ukraine had not fought back with your assistance”.

So, I was really confused when I saw many statements like this being translated early in the war. I couldn’t see the point, because it disn’t seem like much of a gotcha. I think that they are basically aimed at the domestic audience. Like, losing in a war to Ukraine is maybe seen as an inexcusable error for the government by the Russian public, but losing to NATO is not.
