Hey guys! I’m building an Intel-based PC for the first time. I’m struggling to choose a motherboard. Do I really need to go with a $150-200 motherboard? Can I get away with this one with out affecting performance? I’m not doing anything crazy. The CPU was a gift, so I’m building around it. I have built PCs in the past, but with Ryzen. I kinda feel the motherboard options are better with Ryzen. Thanks in advance!

You can find used or open-box MSI Z690-A PROs for $100-$150. I run the DDR5 Wifi variant with a 13700K and it’s been great.
Thks!, i´ll look into it :)
Yes this board is a much better option than what OP mentioned, but do note this board requires DDR5 and those are still pricey when compared to DDR4, apart from that hope you’ll enjoy your new build ☺️👍🏻🤞🏻
I got a 13700k 3 month ago. I had to buy a cheap board which was whitin my budget. I got a gigabyte b660 da3h which has some good features but not enough board for this cpu. Vrm temsp were going as high as 107 degrees Celsius and starting to struggle. I added a heatsink myself which helped but it is not just matter of vrm. For this cpu you need overall good power delivery which can hadnle such cpu without holding it back. Even if you say you won’t overclock get a decent board of z series. Or good b760 at least.
I have a similar board for a 13600k, and with undervolting it is just about enough to run it full speed when gaming even with additional heatsinks on the VRMs, with the 13700k you’d have performance issues.
Go with a Z6-790 as others mentioned, deals can be found on them.
