Hi guys! I’m looking for moderators for this sub. Roles of moderators will be:

1.) Responding to reported posts/comments.

2.) Creating and maintaining rules for the community.

3.) Creating and maintaining megathreads.

4.) And some other things.

About me and this community:

I’m not the right person to moderate this community and I need people that are deep into the topic of antiwork/work reform, are willing to help in organising this sublemmy and giving it a direction. After getting moderators for this sub I will stay as a head mod for some weeks or maybe months to see how things develop and if moderators that I have choosen are doing things properly. Maybe we could even implement a way for choosing and demoting mods democratically but I’m not sure how that would even look like. If the community decides to do things democratically then I will probably have to stay as a tool that will be demoting/assigning mods when community decides so.

To the people that want to apply for a mod postion, start your comment with “mod application” or other obvious keywords that will let me know that you are trying to apply and not just comment something.

In your application please include your background and relationship with this movement and how you would like to help it move forward. Please avoid writing too short applications, make them long enough for us to learn more about you. Thank you!

    Mod application.

Been a Reddit mod for years now moving to Lemmy and Mastodon.

Hope to make this a safe place for all people that need work reform.

The sub has only 2200 subscribers so I won’t be surprised if I won’t get even ONE application lol. If I don’t get a good moderation team for this sub in 1-2 weeks then I will just abandon the sub while giving it away to someone random because my decision to start it while not being ready for leading it was terrible.

Hey, this is a sub that had to be moved over here, so I appreciate you taking the initiative to do that. Hopefully somebody signs up in to do so. It is a lot of free work. I’m guessing they’d need an account on this instance to mod this community?

You only need an account on this instance to create the community. From this point on I can apply whoever I want as a mod, no matter the instance as long it federates with us.

I’m maybe not the best person to apply as I’m not a worker in the system, but maybe I can help out till someone worthier comes along. I came from facebook 😳 to reddit to Lemmy, gradually got fed up with corporate Social Media and I have been looking for some spot to become active and involved. I used to spend a lot of time on r/antiwork and thought about how to transfer more of this vibe from the internet to the real world, as I live in a country where workers are very submissive and lack information. My own work as a freelancer is comfy and leaves me with some time to get regularly very angry about what people have to put up with in the workforce. However, I have never been in the workforce, know very little about work laws, unionizing or other such things - and even though I do have some time, I also have other real life responsibilities so I will not be able to dive in 24/7 and just study all that. As a moderator I also welcome to have the occasion to learn more about the back end functions (I usually find my way around this stuff quickly). I might want to host my own instance at some point but have come to realize there is more to it than I had initially figured. I guess there will be some shifting around on Lemmy in terms of communities, moderators, instances - but I guess one needs to start somewhere for this place to come alive.

Very sorry about that. I nuked my website and email and I’m still busy with recovery. Can’t help after all.

    Mod Application:

Honestly, I may not be what you are looking for based on your post, but I figured I would offer.

While I wholeheartedly support the anti-work/work-reform/anti-corporate movement(s) going on, I don’t know that I would say that I’m…close to them? I’m not organizing protests or scouring the web for posts. I support it. I’ll interact when I have something relevant to say, but I’m not someone that may be able to drive the engagement you are looking for.

That said, I founded, run, and own a large (20k+) member Discord server built from nothing. I’m a freelance developer including more custom discord bots than I can count. I would be dabbling with automation here, but I have no real drive as of yet. While I’m not active as much as some, I check in to Lemmy fairly often through the day.

So I may not be your community driver, but I am familiar with moderation to say the least. If you end up needing someone with a very long moderation, community management, back-end planning, and development experience, I would be happy to help. If you find those qualities in other applicants, I happily cede my application to them.

Tbh, it’s more of a preference for what I would want to happen to this sub. It’s not a hard requirement or anything like that.

I’m a freelance developer including more custom discord bots than I can count.

This skill may be usefull for making custom bots for this sub I think. But that will depend on mods/people what kind of bots will be used. For example, it can be used for pointing out misconceptions about something when someone’s comment has a certain keywords.
