I’d ike to believe Edu and Mikel know what they’re doing… wouldn’t be the smartest thing to piss off WHU from the get go

Yeah hoping it’s not Brighton in January all over. All the noise has been that they’ve been talking already and the bidding sounded more like a formality.

Negotiations are tricky. If you give your best offer right from the get-go you’re very likely to be on the losing end of the deal. The first offer needs to be low enough to maximize your potential gains but not so low to the point you piss off the other party.

West Ham is just waiting it out since they have a desired player with a lot of interest. I’m sure negotiations will continue and we’ll get this done.

I’d like to believe that the first bid was always going to get turned down and so we’re not pissing them off so much as not blowing them out of the water.

This is exactly what it looks like. West Ham are trying to get the maximum price from us. City are probably still working on getting Gundogan to re-sign with them.

I know City spend a lot, but I don’t think they often get into bidding wars and spend £100m+, do they?

So yeah, seems more like trying to get the max fee they can which, fair play to them.
