I have occasionally posted like, cat photos to social media trusting that identifying metadata is removed, since the mouth breathers that design things like smart phones put social security numbers and goddamn GPS data in every picture that’s taken. Does Lemmy strip that data out, or am I gonna have to blank that myself?
I had read in another thread that pictrs strips all exif data. Someone else has said they uploaded a picture and the data was removed.
I don’t honestly know the answer, but personally I would do it myself just to be sure.
Lemmy uses Picrs which does it here, I think but I have no experience with Rust so it may be completely wrong. Either way, better safe then sorry. No harm in doing it twice
