A 3x3 e-trike was not on my 2023 bingo card. Nor was the phrase “wheel amidships”, referring to the middle of the three inline wheels. There’s also the question of whether three inline wheels could constitute a trike or remain a bike.

For inline wheeled machines, I propose that we adopt the Whyte notation from railroading to better describe the situation haha

That’s right in line with the prices for bakfietsen (which are themselves crazy).

Half of that is probably the 2.5kwhr battery, seems like 1kwhr would be a more reasonable range, 180km seems more than needed for most people.

“German mobility startup Dolas eBike has unveiled a modern utility take on a tandem bike”

“such things as a second seat, static handlebar, rear rack, baskets and so on can be mounted to the long rail up top”

On one hand, yes, two riders can be in-line – but by that logic, all long-tail cargo bikes could be “tandems” and that just doesn’t feel right.

I’d say it’s not really a tandem unless the stoker can stoke (i.e., it’s got a second functioning crank).

It’s the second rider that makes it a tandem bike though, not a third wheel.
