Don’t be worried that there aren’t many posts yet. I check in here and will answer – maybe others will too, eventually.
I immigrated to Vietnam in ~2012, started a software company in HCMC, got married here, etc.
So mostly I know this city very well, and also a few things about paperwork, laws, and taxes. Also where to eat, things to avoid, and how to do all the things that tourists do. I can also answer questions about daily life, culture, what the workplace is like, and so on.
I read and speak Vietnamese poorly. I get by, but don’t expect me to translate anything super well.
I also know my way around Da Nang, Phan Thiet, Vung Tau, and Hoi An somewhat.
@Saigonauticon Hello from Saigon. I just wonder why you choose the domain name “voltage”? And is it ok to talk by Vietnamese language here?
I also live in HCMC :)
Tiếng Việt is completely OK, however Vietnamese is approximately my ninth language, so I might not be able to moderate it fast or well. If we get a number of people here eventually, I’ll be looking for some help!
A colleague of mine owns voltage.vn and isn’t using it yet. I think the plan is to use it to build a tech community in the style of https://hackerspaces.org/ some years in the future.
@Saigonauticon Oh cool ;) Now I knew. Hope you got a lot tech friends from Vietnamese on here.
Haha not yet. I spend too much time working to have friends – I used to help organize tech events here a long time ago, but I’m at that time in my life where I need to focus on work. Hopefully I can slow down a bit in a couple of years, maybe move to Da Nang where the air is cleaner and the neighbors quieter :D
