I found out a couple of years ago that University of Washington, the huge money-making football team, doesn’t share the money with the university and pays their coach millions of dollars. Why isn’t any of that money going towards the athletes? Those kids are making bank for the football team with no guarantees of making any money later from it or staying healthy.
Why is there a sport continued to be played with such devastating effects on the human body?
Because people are adults and can make their own decisions.
Kids football should absolutely be flag football though
Seems like it’s not worth a fraction of a societie’s population to have CTE but I’m not a murican.
Because they’re supposed to be students first and athletes second.
Really, colleges should just not be allowed to have such massive sports programs. Do pro leagues not allow players at 18?
I see what you’re saying, BUT this is a business outside of the university, they give no money back to the university. At least that’s how UW works. So they’re not students first, they’re
employees“interns” for the football team first with an education as a perk. That should also not be allowed.
