#Kbin update:
- The https://kbin.social server is now federating with the Fediverse. You can follow/interact with kbin.social magazines & users from other Kbin servers, Mastodon & rest of the Fediverse. For example the TIL magazine is at @TodayILearned, the lead dev of Kbin is at @ernest
- There’s a new Kbin server at https://readit.buzz which is run by the same people as the Universodon.com Mastodon server. It’s open for signups, just click “log in” and then “register”.
@elkaki @feditips @ernest My guess is that you can comment and upvote, because “favs” from Mastodon should translate to “upvotes” in kbin. But since there is no “dislike”-button in Mastodon there is nothing that would translate to “downvote” in kbin, therefore you cannot downvote a kbin post via Mastodon.
However, there are fediverse platforms that have a dislike button, like for example friendica (which I am using). Dislikes from here may be translate to downvotes on kbin, but I haven’t tested this.
To you other question: you can follow the magazine by copying and pasting it’s url into the search field of your mastodon app. This way you find the magazine in mastodon are able to follow it.
@fynhv @feditips @ernest
Thanks for taking the time 👍
One thing, similar to what I said here https://mastodon.online/@elkaki/110548671107228739
Are you following the magazine as if it were a user instead of an instance? Wouldn’t that completely fill your timeline since there is no algorithm and you would be shown all the posts?
@elkaki @feditips Yes, you would follow them like you’d follow a user or rather a group. There is already a thing like groups in the fediverse, like Guppe or Forums in Friendica which you could already follow before from mastodon.
But if kbin magazines in Mastodon behave the same as already existing groups then your guess is right, they would definitely flood your timeline, because every single post made in them would be shown to you. 😬
Mastodon doesn’t handle group-like content well right know, but they are working on improving this as far as I know.
