It shouldn’t be so taboo to admit this. Especially prior to having children. People still get treated like they’re a monster if they’re past 30 and say they don’t want kids. They get treated like a child who doesn’t know their own mind if they say so earlier than that.
I’ve experienced the latter part of your sentence a lot.
I get told “you don’t know that yet, it’ll come later, you just don’t like other people’s kids” like no fuck you I don’t like children and I don’t want them.
It’s so common. Yes, some people change their minds, in both directions. Most often, though, you have people who never change their minds but just magically oopsie ended up with kids and now they have to be all in on it.
There’s nothing wrong with changing your mind, but there is very much something wrong with denigrating people for what they want or don’t want out of life.
Hang in there. It mostly gets better once you’re old enough that people stop asking if you’re going to have kids.
