I’m kinda old at this point, so maybe I’m OOTL, but is this a new meme format making fun of disinformation posts or something? Because I’m fairly certain a decent percentage of the population couldn’t tell the difference between this and a serious post given a different context.

It’s actually a very old meme format, but you’re correct in that it isn’t serious.

By rational people, yes, but the internet (and sadly the world at large) is full of people who choose to be irrational. Just looks at the politics in most countries, tons of populist rhetoric. Even in places where they don’t gain measurable power, they still garner enough to be noticeable.

I don’t think satire is necessarily a bad thing… but shit like these are far too easy to unintentionally mislead. Especially in the context poor corners of the internet that they’ll inevitably be shared to.

I have seen people use the format for actual criticism (like “stop using windows”) and it’s lame

Why are we still here? Just to suffer?

Every night, I can hear my CPU… and my GPU… even my fans. The computer I lost… the overclocks I’ve lost… won’t stop hurting. It’s like they’re all still there. You feel it too, don’t you?

I’M GONNA MAKE THEM GIVE US BACK OUR INTEL PENTIUMS AND VOODOO VFX CARDS!

Yeah, I want that feel I had the first time I saw my computer do a 3D at 60fps. I still love you, Voodoo. Wherever you are.
