What are people’s thoughts? I like the theme and concept execution but think his games are a bit too heavy for me to get regular play. We keep meaning to get back to The Gallerist but can’t find the time. I skimmed two video reviews (Rahdo and Man v. Meeple) and one suggested it was a lighter game (for Lacerda) and the other said it was up there with his more complex.

I have and love both On Mars and Weather Machine. Complexity in games is my jam although that comes with the downside of making it cumbersome to teach.

Inventions looks neat and I dig the theme, will check out the camapign tomorrow when I have more time.

Lacerda games aren’t for me. I’m fine with heavy, but they’re all complexity for complixity’s sake without adding any value to the decision space or immersion or anything (IMO, of course).

Lacerda games are also by and large guaranteed to be printed and available on EGG’s site (if no where else ). In your case, the wait and see approach seems best. Wait for playthrough videos, wait for the other 100s and 1000s to receive and play their copies and see if the game really holds up. Worst case, if it turns out the game is amazing and you’re group is actually down to play it, you might have to pay $15-20 more for it (maybe). An extra $20 bucks for something you’re sure about vs. pledging and having it just sit on the shelf seems like a no brainer…

That’s a good point. EGG is basically guaranteed to have it available for the foreseeable future.

My rule for kickstarters is basically if I absolutely love the series or creator. If the game is good it will be available after Kickstarter without all the extra Crufts/add-ons/fees that modern Kickstarter campaigns have
