    There is no ethical consumption under capitalism.

    That is to say, don’t guilt trip yourself so hard and consume what you need to thrive as best you can while advocating for the change that would ACTUALLY help the planet like huge taxes on excessive wealth, corporate carbon taxes, actual enforcement of regulation, etc.

      Yes, but they are a symptom of the problem, not the source. Big corporations are able to get so many more tax breaks, have a greater voice in politics, and are a whole lot more efficient than small ones. Small businesses have to compete with that so they use all the same strategies.

        Even if you magically wave a wand, and big corporations disappear, small businesses would still do that. This has nothing to do with existence of the big corporations, but with incentives for businesses to sell more.

    planned obsolescence is the really bad thing. there are so many things that I was fine with but had to be replaced.
