“took over”? Sure there’s a lot of hype but OpenAI’s position is not stable. They’re reliant on multiple factors to stay in front: cost of running the GPUs, availability of hardware, availability of better code, and lack of equivalent competitors. Each one of those are being rapidly explored by other people. OpenAI is vulnerable and this new industry is in its infancy.
