        Maybe the gas is in a sealed container and for good measure is located in the top part of the box.

          To be fair, it was funny to me 35 years ago. I guess I still look at them for nostalgia. I had shirts with prints of the comics! “Pigeon: Poopus Monumentous” was my favorite.
