Hey everyone! I just got a deck and am looking to get a bunch of accessories, the main one being a dock. The Deck really intrigued me as a all-in-one device for both gaming and software development on the go.
Looking at FlatHub, it looks like pretty much all of the software that I use in my workflow is available (Rider, Webstorm, Postman, GitKraken, etc), even some hobby software that I use like PrusaSlicer! Pretty much all of the other command-line tools I would need can be installed with Homebrew as well without worrying about the read-only partition being overwritten.
So the final frontier for me will be the hardware. First and foremost, I’m looking for a good docking station that can support two simultaneous external 1440P displays. I would prefer to be able to use dual DisplayPort connections, but if there’s nothing of good quality on the market then I’m fine with using a DP + HDMI setup.
Additionally, I’m also looking to max out the capabilities of the deck with regards to battery life, performance, and storage. What would be really cool would be if there were some kind of Battery + SSD mount that would strap onto the back of the deck.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
I got the OEM Dock from Steam. I appreciate that it came with an additional wall adapter for fast charging and that it has Ethernet built in. Also that it’s supported by Steam as it’s a first-party accessory.
Same. Oem dock. It’s awesome and firmware updates come right through the deck.
I originally bought the JSAux Dock and shortly after connecting it to my TV it started wrecking havoc with the CEC functions. Volume control would randomly stop working. Was pulling my hair out thinking that something in the AVR stack was starting to fritz out and go.
I pushed them for a refund and swapped to the OEM Dock. Haven’t looked back since. CEC issues disappeared and the dock feels a lot more reliable than the jsaux one.
Also JSAux dock only had windows firmware updaters at the time, so wasn’t a great look for first party support.
Had the same experience but I just got a CEC killer between the TV and the dock. No issues after that.
I and three friends have jsaux docks and none of have ever had done any firmware updates or had any issues.
OEM dock has both DP + HDMI. I am able to drive two external two external 1440p displays. Compiling directly on the deck can take longer than on beefier HW, but you probably already know that.
iVoler Upgraded Dock because I was being cheap.
dbrand Killswitch case because I use the cover a lot and to me it was worth it. Others may disagree.
