The only thing keeping the dream alive at this point is the diminishing belief that the dreamer will one day be the boss with the yacht. This dream is instilled in their youth, but the current coming-of-age generation does not see their parents navigating anywhere close to this path successfully. In 30some years, nobody but those born rich will believe in this dream.
I’m officially in my “late 30s” now and know people into their mid 40s. Everyone I know is still basically where we were 10-15 years ago, because retirement is increasingly a thing of the past. We can’t move up into higher pay/higher tier jobs because our parents and in some cases grandparents are still keeping those positions locked down.
That’s why they call it the American Dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it.

One thing that doesn’t get enough mention is the massive inflation in luxuries. Back when the average salary was $5,000/ year, a super car was about $6,000. In those days $1 million was a vast fortune. Today things like concert or sports tickets are over $1,000.
I don’t understand how these concerts are selling so many tickets at those prices. I make decent money and no kids, but dropping 1k+ on just a ticket to a show is not in the budget. Who the fuck are the people attending these?
America today resembles Tsarist Russia. A vast number of poor working folks, a thin coating of very well to do, and a tiny minority of incredibly wealthy folks.

You know you anyone in the world can be a shareholder… take 30 minutes to learn about how stocks work.
Its a good thing stock dividends, capital appreciation, and long diversification is not the same as day trading. Happy new years! Maybe you will learn something this year.
The reality of the situation is that vast majority of the population has no idea what any of these things are. If stock trading was as easy as you seem to think it is, then everybody would’ve been doing it and making money hand over fist. Meanwhile, the reality is that vast majority of Americans don’t own stocks. Happy new years to you too. Maybe you will learn how the economy of your country actually works this year.
