I actually loved everything about his personification in the two-parter, it showed how different captains have different style and expanded on how and why different captains choose their first officer to fit their command style. Sure he was an asshole compared to our previous experiences with Picard et al. but he absolutely saved the day in that episode.
Agreed. Jellico would’ve been a cool captain on another ship. I liked the part of his character that went to Riker as the best qualified pilot despite their butting heads. But his whole “My way or the highway” approach, as intended, was grating.
Jellico was an interesting way to address some regulars’ lobbying for changes to their characters. Ronny Cox played to perfection a sympathetic asshole. The only one to do it better is Todd Stashwick in Picard.
Still would’ve loved to see Jellico assimilated. He would’ve fit right into “Resistance is futile.”
