Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon
I find it difficult to agree that there were 50 games deserving of a “Top” list this year and TotK was certainly not even close to the best game of the year.
Also starfield and hogwarts legacy in the top 10, lmao. This is basically just the steam awards again (ie just a popularity contest)
Eurogamer readers vote
just a popularity contest
Just what it says on the tin then?
Well yeah, but you’d expect that eurogamer readers have played more than 2 games all year.
Harry potter and bethesda both have built in fanbases despite not being that relevant for the last decade-ish. I’m not very surprised they were able to make 7 and 8 on a top 50 list.
Zelda TotK has already won GOTY from some sites, in top of my mind are IGN and Polygon, so I see no problem at all for it to be on top, Between Baldur’s Gate 3 and Zelda TotK there was no other game deserving that title this year.
It was an amazing year for gaming and I agree that there are lots of games deserving to be mentioned in this list, but as for Game of the Year title, the only two games close enough to win it, are Zelda and Baldur’s Gate.
Between Baldur’s Gate 3 and Zelda TotK there was no other game deserving that title this year.
TotK isn’t a top-10 game this year. It’s just an expansion to BotW (which was amazing) with a couple new mechanics slapped on – so exactly like an expansion. BG3 is great, but it exists in these two simultaneous states; there is a massive world, game, and population of that world, then at the same time it’s just not that complex or engaging. IDK, BG3 is my game of the year, but that’s because there wasn’t much this year. Elden Ring would have my vote if it was just a little bit better, but it’s not. AC6 might end up being a better FromSoft game as the years go on and replayability becomes more of a factor, tbh.
There is a strong argument for Mario Wonder to be the game of the year. It’s the first genuinely fresh entry in a series spanning five decades, since Galaxy came out. And, honestly Alan Wake 2 is more of a storytelling, artistic, and world-design achievement than any of those other games.
Totk felt like Nintendo’s way to recap costs on botw. It’s almost the exact same game.
I felt this way about God of war as well
Like Majoras Mask.
Elden ring came out February 2022 anyway dude
What is your top 10 that doesn’t have zelda then?
It should be bg3 just based on how much influence it’s having on the industry alone.
Picking totk as the #1 game this year is just contrarian nonsense.
It absolutely was close to top of the list. It’s basically between bg3, totk, and Alan Wake. All wildly different games and personally I enjoy mechanics focused games so for me totk was the top, sure I’m not the only one
For real, how is totk better than bg3 from any point of view? It’s basically a rehash of botw with very little in terms of new ideas. Nintendo fanboyism is so lame.

I’d swap 1 and 2 for me personally, but they’re both amazing games. Zelda got a little repetitive to me after a while. I didn’t want to put any more Legos together.
Nah Baldurs Gate 3 set a new standard for an RPG. I’m sure the new Zelda was a fantastic game but I doubt a sequel for a Zelda game is gonna be as influential
TOTK feels like it has been forgotten about since launch, until the awards season started. It was a good game, but I wouldn’t count it as nearly as influential as BG3 or BOTW.
Totk is overrated as hell, I had so much more fun with any other game on the list
No Pizza Tower? Starfield on the list?!
“readers” lol
