The Toronto Maple Leafs and star winger William Nylander are closing in on a new eight-year contract extension with an average annual value of around $11.5 million, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Saturday.

The contract — which would begin next season — puts Nylander among the highest-paid forwards in the NHL.

    He sure as fuck better not go Huberdeau once that ink dries though. That’s what makes me so nervous about these north of 10 long term contracts. Especially when it involves a team that hasn’t been out of the second round since the (early) nineties.
