13000 verified steam deck games and about 11000 switch games.

Also, there are about a billion toms that work perfectly on the stream deck.

And even if they don’t work out of the box, it’s often just a matter of the controller configuration that hasn’t been done yet, which doesn’t take a long time to make either.

…and quite few of those that are even exclusive to the Switch, can still run on Steam Deck.

I wonder how many of them are legit games and how many are just some crappy thing that hardly qualifies as a game.

Probably about the same amount as Steam. There’s a lot of garbage on there too. It’s the nature of a widely accessible platform.

What’s probably more interesting about this comparison is how much console gaming has changed in recent years. It wasn’t too long ago that console game development had such high barriers to entry that it was damn near impossible to make a game outside one of the big studios. So much of the stuff on consoles now, including the trash, never would have seen the light of day before.

I don’t think anyone really cares though. People buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games.

I own both. I prefer the switch to play games with my daughter. I’m also getting rid of the Steam Deck because I tend to only play casual games on it. I’ve now bought a gaming laptop (mainly for editing photos and recording music) which is a way better form factor for me. The Steam Deck is amazing though and I see how it is the perfect machine for many people.
