Turner didn’t have two much to do against Mexico. Mexico’s team looked so outplayed, their federation has really sabotaged themselves.

He had one or two decent stops, but still looks way too jittery with the ball at his feet.

It actually pains me to watch Mexico at times, you expect them to actually be decent but instead it’s really a team that aren’t cohesive at all. The federation needs to be overhauled from top to bottom. The fact that they haven’t beaten their biggest “rival” in ages in a long time and in important matches too is very damning.

I’m still on the fence. Seems like wayyyy too much money.

Quick! Someone make a Welcome to Arsenal | 8k | Despacito Remix Compilation so I can get on the hype train.

Don’t let Chelsea fool you, there is a great player in that body, but Chelsea has been a black pit of death for attackers lately. Werner, Lukaku, Sterling, Havertz, Ziyech, Auba, Felix, Mudryk, Cuca (defender I know) are all great players but just haven’t been able to show that while at Chelsea.

I don’t doubt what you say is true. But he doesn’t actually tackle or solve any of our problems. Even if we’re bringing him in as Saka cover, his end product has always been vastly inferior.

Same. I believe there’s talent but at that price and his development at Chelsea though? I’d be wary.

I don’t think Havertz is as bad as he’s being made out to be. He has the tools to succeed. Arteta is knows how to bring the best out of under performing players. I mean look at the job he’s done with Xhaka.

At this point I’m willing to let Arteta and Edu cook. Vieira aside, there hasn’t really been a bad signing per se. I’m not even ready to call Vieira bad, just less impressed by him than I’d like to be.

I think Fabio still deserves some time. This pre-season will be so important for him. Hopefully it’s just a case of it taking time for him to settle into a new country and new league.

I’m a bit worried once the original r/gunners mods take over. Moderating 2 communities on different sites will take a lot. I don’t want c/gunners to become neglected.

Hey @[email protected], I completely understand the concerns and to be honest, like I mentioned in the transfer tier list thread - I’m a little nervous as well. I’ve shared with the /r/gunners mods my concerns that

      • splitting their time between two platforms will be difficult
      • moderating a community of 300k and 300 is quite different. They’ll need to be active participants in this community rather than passive enforcers like they are on /r/gunners.

In the end, this time commitment is something the /r/gunners mods need to assess whether they are willing to do for the better of the community. /c/gunners is literally one of the most active communities on Lemmy - and I believe the most active sports community. @[email protected] has been great in encouraging people on Reddit to come here and @[email protected] is also a mod at the Arsenal women Lemmy community. But if this community is to survive in the long run, we’ll need a driven mod team who will drive engagement on this platform.

I appreciate you addressing my concerns. I guess it got it in my head with not seeing the other mods being very active here.

/c/gunners has kind of exploded compared to some of the similar communities and I would like the continue on that tread. I am glad to see that the mods are encouraging users to come here and seem to be up to the challenge of moderating two platforms.

That’s okay, it happens sometimes as you grow older. Priorities change and interests change. Sometimes you lose interest in something temporarily as well and it comes back in a while. It’s all good.

I am curious why? even with life being crazier this is the most engaged that I have felt in my time supporting Arsenal.

May I ask why? Its the opposite for me. I feel like the team has started to become exciting after a long time. I’m even more excited for the near future of the team.

No issue with that, honestly, things change. Only concern I’d have is if there’s nothing taking its place, if that makes sense - are you getting more into other things, or are you just losing interest?
