For instance, I hope that they keep going with weapon properties - they have an opportunity to make combat really in depth for fighty characters. I think there’s also opportunity for out of combat stuff too, like using a dagger to jam open a lock or a war hammer to bash a dungeon wall down.

I hope that we don’t see the homogenization of spell lists like what happened to PF2E. Paladins get their powers from distinct sources from clerics + have a totally separate class fantasies. They should have unique spells that reflect this, like we currently have.

I was hoping for one dnd to be a new edition that fixes many long standing and very major balance problems of 5e. I also wish for way better GM tools and materials for running the game such as a working encounter building system.

Sadly it’s more of a 5e update and not one that has me excited so far.

Want to see: more moves in combat than just attack, cast spell, move or occasionally grapple/ shove (but those aren’t very viable so aren’t even used much) Don’t want to see: Pinkertons

I’d like to see combat become more dynamic. As designed, it’s easy for martials to run up to their target and bash them, while casters stay back. And that’s the fight, until everyone is dead.

It’d be nice if characters had an incentive to move. Attacks-of-opportunity are a disincentive to move at low levels.

Yeah, the DM can add stuff to combat to make it more dynamic (timers, alternate goals, etc), but it’d be nice if those were built in to the system.

I really like doing fights near cliffs or tight spaces because then managing space becomes really important because of falling or friendly fire.

That sounds like a good approach. I’d prefer that the system, monsters, or player classes didn’t require DM effort to make combat dynamic. But I’m lazy.

          I’ll use your tip tho.

I was hoping for some improvements to the Cleric’s spell list at high levels, and some smallish nerfs to Sorcerers/Wizards.

I like the new martial features, but they’re going to need a little more depth than what they’re proposing to make me want to play one.
