minus-squareArghblarg@lemmy.calinkfedilinkarrow-up13arrow-down1·10 months agoDamn, that’s beautiful. I’ve never found one larger than a golf ball. Delicious sliced and sauteed in butter! Where was this generally, if I may ask? I did find a cauliflower mushroom this past Thanksgiving about the size of my chest though… So great as noodles in a chicken broth soup!
minus-squaremommykink@lemmy.worldOPlinkfedilinkarrow-up6·10 months ago Delicious sliced and sauteed in butter! This was before either of us knew about mycology so after this picture we put it back on the ground… 😔 I don’t remember exactly where. At the time we were living in Asheville, NC, though, so that should give an idea of the general area
minus-squareArghblarg@lemmy.calinkfedilinkarrow-up4·10 months agoAha, much much further south and east, maybe that has something to do with it. White puffers grow all across North America IIRC, but I’m on West Coast Canada (Pacific Northwest but over the border). It’s a lot cooler here. I would freaking lose my mind if I found a puffer that big. Keep an eye out ;)
minus-squareMonkCanatellalinkfedilinkarrow-up4·10 months agoYeah you could eat it. Or you could jump on it and make the biggest puff explosion of all time
minus-squarechellomere@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up3·edit-210 months agoI tried to fry one… Unfortunately not the best taste or smell in these big bois, the house reeked of it. Cauliflower mushroom however is delicious! The bacon of the forest!
