Hello everyone, I’m currently an electrical apprentice going on their 2nd year of a 4 year program that is state sponsored (Ohio) through a big industrial manufacturing company. They came and told us today that in 2 weeks they’re gonna put all 4 year apprentices, which includes electrical, mechanical, and tool and die training and apprenticeships on hold for the foreseeable future. They told us that we’ll be going back to somewhere in assembly, but they didn’t know at this time. They’re gonna start giving cutback options tomorrow. The only silver lining that they gave is that our pay will be kept the same as it is now, we won’t be getting pay deductions, and we’ll still be getting our schooling paid for. What is the policy for a company to suspend an apprenticeship, can they even do that? If they can’t who would I have to talk to about it? We’re all so confused and frustrated about it that I’m reaching out to Reddit for some guidance and answers. Thank you everyone for taking the time to read this.
