“Best” is subjective of course but let’s define it here as best reliability. A BIFL (buy it for life) Blu Ray writer that you can use to archive disks with until the technology is deprecated or something better comes along.
I’m thinking that an internal drive would firstly be the way to go given that there seems to be pretty wide consensus that these seem to be built better and last longer than their external/slimline equivalents (and they can be used with an enclosure so anyone really can use them).
I’ve also heard musings that Pioneer is the best brand … and there really aren’t that many OEMs and manufacturers still making these (Asus, LG, OWC … not a whole lot more).
If you were prepared to spend whatever it takes to get the very best hardware … what product on the market today would you purchase?
