I’m not even normally a Trivium superfan, but this one random instrumental is somehow a goddamn masterpiece.
It didn’t sit super well with me either, but I still think it’s quite a good effort. I felt like the band was going through an identity crisis at the time, while Metalcore’s popularity was starting to wane. I remember thinking that the band was kinda pandering to the old guard with this one; the fans that sneered at core bands, as a thinly veiled push for longevity in the metal scene. This is just my opinion which stems from being a kid following the old-school scene that simultaneously loved Trivium at the time. I highly anticipated this album.
Don’t get me wrong. I did and still do enjoy it but in a slightly disappointed way.
