There are still some people who seem unfazed by activity like this. The usual response is - “If I’m doing nothing wrong, what do I have to worry about?”

Those types of people might worry more if they were aware of what AI will soon be able to do with data like this. It’s one thing to know the world’s spy agencies can track anyone they want. Wait until AI uses it to build up a profile of you & can use black hat methods to manipulate you in ways you don’t even know. The people who dismiss all this, or don’t understand anything about it, will be the most vulnerable.

Usually when people say this I just go “give me your phone, I’d like to look through your browser history, photos, and recently used apps” and when the inevitable “WHAT? no that’s mine” response comes, I hit them back with “if you’ve got nothing to hide then what do you have to worry about?”

“Who do you trust more, the guy who always closes his blinds, or the guy who demands to be allowed to look into your home and demands blinds be made illegal?”

Israel has a large blackhat industry that specializes in selling exploits to nation states. This shouldn’t be surprising to anybody.
