I’ve been thinking for a long time about how a functioning FPV community could be created in Fediverse. What would be the right platform for you? How do you get people to overcome the registration hurdle and what is the best way to explain how Fediverse works? I would like to collect a few thoughts here.
@Stickbro it’s tough really. I started up fpv.social to host people, but I have no real clue how to drive engagement so it just sits here for the few of us who use it!
I know! Thank you for that! I’m also with my account with you :) @[email protected]
People first need content until it becomes interesting enough for them or they become aware. I think Pixelfed would get closer to their needs. And then you would have to get the first people to start crossposting.
For example, an app for FPV would be cool. for example to meet. Registration is done via OAuth2 with existing accounts. Then you could use Mastodon and Pixelfed for communication.
@[email protected] @stickbro Sure, so I did think about moving to Pixelfed instead of Mastodon as I see Instagram has a big FPV scene and maybe that would be a better fit… But Mastodon is the bigger thing, I suspect more likely for new people to approach.
@[email protected] I think Mastodon is the right place to start. And I’ve seen that you can crosspost your Pixelfed posts on Mastodon. But in general I find it difficult to follow discussions on Mastodon. That’s why I’m happy that there’s some movement on Lemmy at the moment [email protected] Maybe you can get started here. Most pilots can be found on Instagram and Discord, which Pixelfed and Lemmy can also do.
