Ferrari’s plan A is to bring Lewis Hamilton to Maranello. Uncontrolled rumours even give the deal as done with an announcement possible in the next few days

[Antonio Lobato]

I don’t usually comment on rumors, but this one is more than a rumor. As far as I have been able to find out the chances of Lewis Hamilton wearing Ferrari red in 2025 are very high, in fact I don’t rule out that he is already signed. Lewis is under contract until the end of 2025, but with an exit option in 2024. The move has caught Mercedes on the wrong foot, while Carlos Sainz was expecting it. This year will be difficult for Carlos at Ferrari, but his options for 2025 are several: a year of waiting at Sauber until it becomes Audi in 2026 or even a possible negotiation with Mercedes to take Hamilton’s place.

Swap with ham? I can’t remember when everyones contracts expire.

They could take botas back? Or get Albon from Williams?

Albon could be a good choice. If they can get him from Williams I’m convinced he could fight at the pointy end of the grid.

Sainz could also take Checo’s seat at RB. That’d be interesting.

Sainz won’t ever get the RB seat. Jos and Sainz Sr caused a lot of problems when they were both at TR, leading to Sainz leaving the RBDA

Sainz is a really attractive free agent now, I’d think. He’s maybe not got the same raw pace as some of the others at the front of the grid, but he’s incredibly tactical. If I was a midfield team looking for somebody who could outperform my chassis I’d be making a spot for him on my 2025 roster right now.
