We have a deal. Unity," said European Council President Charles Michel in a post on X. “All 27 leaders agreed on an additional 50 billion euro support package for Ukraine within the EU budget.”

The announcement came despite staunch objections from Hungary in December and in the days leading up to Thursday’s summit in Brussels.

Ukraine’s economy minister said Kyiv expects to receive the first tranche of 4.5 billion euros ($4.9 billion) from the EU in March.

That would mean Ukraine has the finances to keep the government running for the next four years. That is huge news for Ukraine.

Putin has a bad day today.

Call for anybody who doesn’t actually want to fight for Putin to surrender now while you have the chance

Unfortunately this is basic civilian government aid only.

They can’t run the civilian side of the government if they are defeated militarily, which has a good possibility of happening if the US doesn’t resume military aid.

US people, especially those with Republican representatives, please write your congress critter to pass the Ukraine aid package!!!

Nice. Should still punish Hungary and then go through with the voting reform though.

Finally some good news for Ukraine, it’s been way to far between good news for Ukraine lately. If the US congress could also come to an agreement to help Ukraine on military equipment, that would make it even better.

I have the same hope. But knowing how the House is right now, I am dismayed to say that you shouldn’t hold your breath. The GOP is playing this like it’s a domestic issue, and they’re almost certainly not going to let Ukraine get any aid because that would give Biden a pretty big foreign policy win, which they will absolutely not abide.
