Good for TechDirt, Muckrock and the EFF for telling Appin and Rajat Khare to go pound sand.
May many crabs find your testicles in need of pinching Rajat Khare.
Queue Streisand effect.

No they are just lining the Streisand Effect up, so it’s ready to be called.

Maybe ‘sad trombone’ was still playing?
That was a good letter they wrote and is even understandable to us not versed in legalese. I especially liked the citation of the US Constitution First Amendment.
The reason why these legal threats work on large publications and agencies like Reuters is they have staff and business units in India. TechDirt being a small outfit based solely in the US has the luxury of telling Appin to eat shit and suffer little to no consequences.
Now why some of these other US based publications are toeing the line set by Khare is baffling.

The answer is pretty much always “money”.
Now we just need a 6 hour hbomberguy video essay about Rajat Khare to really take this to the next level.
Our analysis and observations corroborate the June 2022 reporting from Reuters noting some of Appin’s customers tied to major litigation battles. The group has conducted hacking operations against high value individuals, governmental organizations, and other businesses involved in specific legal disputes. Appin’s hacking operations and overall organization appear at many times informal, clumsy, and technically crude; however, their operations proved highly successful for their customers, impacting world affairs with significant success.
