If there’s no evidence, as the chief of the org accused of part taking in the attack claims, how is it that so many countries withdrew their funding for UNRWA pretty much immediately?

That headline is a lie bordering on gross journalistic malpractice and you’d know if you’d actually have kept reading rather than just automatically trust the opinion of a fiercely pro-Israel outlet.

a dossier provided to the United States government that details Israel’s claims

          Claims, not evidence

The accusations are contained in a dossier provided to the United States government that details Israel’s claims against a dozen employees of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency who, it says

Accusations and “Israel’s government says” aren’t evidence either.

The accusations are what prompted eight countries, including the United States, to suspend some aid payment to the UNRWA

Again, accusations, not evidence. Nothing has been proven as

U.N.’s Office of Internal Oversight Services was still investigating.

These accusations seemed credible enough for the US and many other countries to withdraw funding so it seems they are more than mere accusations. Also funny that you claim journalistic malpractice since the NYT uncritically amplified claims that Israel bombed a hospital and killed hundreds early in the war even when these claims were wild right off the bat and turned out to be competely false… So I guess at the very least they do malpractice across political lines.

By your own word they’re not really credible. If they were you wouldn’t have had to say this.

I’ve not gone through the intelligence Israel provided on UNRWA but the people who have withdrew their funding over it and UNRWA firing people left right and central to do damage control. Therefore I say “seem”. I qualify these things because I’m not running around with ideological blinders that force me to try and discredit everything that doesn’t fit my very narrow worldview through nitpicks like “you said seem lol”

I pay people I can trust to sift through it for me. If you haven’t gone through the intelligence, you should realize that withdrawn funding is not evidence of anything. I’m not the one wearing ideological blinders here.

These accusations seemed credible enough for the US and many other countries to withdraw funding

Because AIPAC and other pressure groups force the majority of US politicians to pretend that the Israeli government is automatically right about everything and that to say otherwise is to support Hamas.

Meanwhile, the other countries are following along because they don’t want to get on the bad side of the US government.

so it seems they are more than mere accusations

No, that doesn’t follow at all. Governments sometimes act rashly with no evidentiary basis. Sometimes governments do things because other governments doing it makes them feel pressure to go along. This is an egregious example of both and likely to cost thousands of innocent civilian lives.

the NYT uncritically amplified claims that Israel bombed a hospital and killed hundreds early in the war

I guarantee you they didn’t. They treat the Israeli government like they treat cops: justified by default no matter what.

these claims were wild right off the bat and turned out to be competely false

Actually turned out to be an IDF rocket accidentally hitting the hospital. Given their history of doing EXACTLY THE SAME THING and then lying about it, suspecting the IDF of bombing a hospital on purpose is hardly “wild”.

Details Emerge on U.N. Workers Accused of Aiding Hamas Raid

Israeli officials have presented evidence they say ties workers at a Palestinian aid agency in Gaza to violence during the Hamas-led attack on Israel.

One is accused of kidnapping a woman. Another is said to have handed out ammunition. A third was described as taking part in the massacre at a kibbutz where 97 people died. And all were said to be employees of the United Nations aid agency that schools, shelters and feeds hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

The accusations are contained in a dossier provided to the United States government that details Israel’s claims against a dozen employees of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency who, it says, played a role in the Hamas attacks against Israel on Oct. 7 or in their aftermath.

The U.N. said on Friday that it had fired several employees after being briefed on the allegations. But little was known about the accusations until the dossier was reviewed on Sunday by The New York Times.

The accusations are what prompted eight countries, including the United States, to suspend some aid payment to UNRWA, as the agency is known, even as war plunges Palestinians in Gaza into desperate straits. More than 26,000 people have been killed there and nearly two million displaced, according to Gazan and U.N. officials.

The UNRWA workers have been accused of helping Hamas stage the attack that set off the war in Gaza, or of aiding it in the days after. Some 1,200 people in Israel were killed that day, Israeli officials say, and about 240 were abducted and taken to Gaza.

U.N. officials initially said all 12 employees were fired, but on Sunday, the United Nations secretary general, António Guterres, said nine had been dismissed. Asked about Israel’s allegations on Sunday, UNRWA said that two of the 12 employees were dead but that it could not provide more information while the U.N.’s Office of Internal Oversight Services was still investigating.

Thanks for the source despite the attitude. I wonder how those two died.

100+ UNRWA workers have been killed so far by IDF airstrikes. His source it false by the way, NYT saw no evidence, they just put a lie in the title for clickbait value and then corrected their lie in the paywalled article.

                Israeli officials have presented evidence

But the “presented” evidence was in fact not presented in the article. Nor anywhere else. Hidden would be a more fitting word.

No worries. Quite possible they died during the attacks or later on during the bombing campaigns. Also possible they got mopped up by hamas, as they commonly do purges. But your guess is as good as mine.

Technically the Chief never said that at all. Philippe Lazzarini terminated 9 of the 13 accused employees immediately upon the dossier and called for transparent independent investigation.

The countries that cut funding started with the USA and then Canada, Australia, Britain, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Finland, Estonia, Japan, Austria and Romania followed suit, totaling a loss of $667.2 Million USD out of the $1.17 Billion USD operating budget. However, more than half of that amount was the USA alone at $343.9 M or just under 30% of their total budget.

The requested investigations have not taken place and the allegations of Netanyahu’s regime that 190 workers under UNRWA employment were militants, the sort of people that hand out food and water for charity some of which were public school teachers, are totally uncorroborated. Maybe the evidence will show itself, it honestly makes sense for Hamas to try to corrupt a charity organization when they themselves started out as a charity arm of the Muslim Brotherhood that once controlled Egypt, but as of right now we know nothing. It’s probably even more likely that Netanyahu is full of shit for simultaneously having all of this intel about the attack and also being completely blindsided by it.
