    Free climbing is an activity for crazy people and this guy seems like an example of that.

        He’s not being praised as a hero. The article says, “climbing hero”. Very, very different things.

      Heat least used ropes. Free soloing is the one without ropes, and indeed, insane. I agree with the other comment though, what an absolute dickwad for abandoning his family to “find god”

        It took me a LONG time to parse that properly. I took it as an imperative order to melt unused lines as, perhaps, a recycling effort.

      Free climbing is an activity for crazy people and this guy seems like an example of that.

      I used to climb outside a LOT. Among the crew I climbed with, this kind of stupidity was regarded with mild awe and lots of hope that a fully-developed pre-frontal will help this man overcome his need for attention- and thrill-seeking; the parkour reflection.
