I expect they won’t because (spoilers for a 50 year old movie) time travel is done in a lot of films at the moment so it will feel cliche, but I think it would be fun to keep the loop.

Given how long each of these movies has taken to make, which while not that long is still kinda long now…By the time they got to it, maybe that would be less of a concern. Tbh I hadn’t realized a lot of films had been doing time travel lately, but I also haven’t been watching many either.

also wanna feel old for a sec?

      It just seems so perfect.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) is a modified Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972), each of which are my favorite in the series.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) & War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) are a much better version of Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973).

By all accounts Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024) is going to cover the history of humans first like in Planet of the Apes (1968) but I expect also Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970), but maybe that’ll be a second film. Although how amazing would it be if this film ends with a spaceship crash landing.

In either case a retelling of Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971) (actually, that is my favorite) is just sitting there. It would work so well. The celebrity aspect, the science vs political aspect, the “human” rights aspect.
