I’m moving in a week and changing my ISP, so my plan is just to pirate a few terabytes of music and games on this IP and dip out. I’ve never pirated anything before though, what’s the easiest way for me to do this?
- Wear an eye patch
- Buy a sword
- Move to Somalia
Fuck you. I’m wearing an eye patch, open-carrying a sword, and I’m moving to fucking New York City!
Will Liberia do?
close enough.
You mean steal a sword, right?
With a yo ho ho!
#1. (RTFM) Read the Megathread, it has all the trusted sites you’ll likely need unless you’re getting into to very niche things.
#2. Use a VPN. Mullvad is great but they recently removed port-forwarding so if you care about port-forwarding I recommend going with something like ProtonVPN (paid).
#3. Bind your VPN to your torrent client. (I recommend using QBittorrent)
#4. Also, for music, I recommend you look into soulseek.
Edit: Read @[email protected]’s reply to this comment. They give helpful information that I completely spaced to add into my original comment.

Maybe before suggesting these two, which are more go-to than they should be, you should have suggested checking their national, cultural and legislative view on piracy and, if at least two result positive, should have suggested to search for websites that are totally shady but look good and work better, that host downloadables either via torrent or direct downloads. Many nations have their own.
Feel free to consider the above as #2 and then go from there, my bud PRUSSIA_x86
I did end up realizing they might not live in a country that cares about piracy, and should have mentioned they might not even need a VPN. Thanks for the correction.
I don’t know where you live, just wanted to say if you’re dabbling in this new hobby, make sure they’re not keeping logs after your contract ends. Your IP of today might still be traceable back to you, if they keep the logs for a fixed time after the contract ended. Or use protection.
I live in the US, what do you think are the chances I’ll face repercussions for a a terabyte or two of music and such? I just set up proton VPN and I’m using utorrent.
μtorrent is full of spyware. Best to use qbittorrent. But as long as you are using a reliable VPN (like proton) and for added security have it attached to your torrent client’s kill switch, you’ll be fine.
Thanks, I’ll try qbit then!
The mega thread on the sidebar has some great resources
Thanks!
Download a torrent client and use Yandex to search for torrents. Most of the times it will be Russian, so use your browsers translator (for Firefox, the Firefox Translations add-on, it also translates locally).
Are they Russian or Prussian? One is in Germany.
Hahahahahaha. Yeah guys let’s “help this person”.
I’m onto you FBI.
