This was a very interesting article and I honestly cringe now that I ever thought insects weren’t sentient. At the least, I could have been more tender with them.
The implications are very serious. If the bees are stressed, then the pesticides aren’t the only thing destroying them.
God, what made humans so miserable that we make other creatures so miserable en masse?
This was a really good read.
It’s always baffled me that people accept the assertion that certain types of animals don’t feel pain. I mean maybe it looks different, but it would be insane for a living creature to not have that protective feature.
We are all animals. There are some pretty drastic differences between us, but I mean come on. Even casual observation of an animal in distress should make it obvious. You just have to be paying the slightest bit of attention.
And as for joy, why shouldn’t they?
I especially love knowing that fuzzy bumbles enjoy playing with a ball ❤️
Such a good article.
When i started to become a practising Buddhist taking care of insects was quite a shift for me. I never went out of my way to harm them but i wasn’t considerate and would squish them if they annoyed me. Glad to see the science on this.
