Sony is working on official support for using PSVR 2 on PC. Here’s exactly what Sony said today in a blog post announcing upcoming PlayStation VR2 games: “Also, we’re pleased to share that we are currently testing the ability for PS VR2 players to access additional games on PC to offer even more game variety in addition to the PS VR2 titles available through PS5. We hope to make this support available in 2024, so stay tuned for more updates.”

It’s a great piece of hardware. I’ve been considering it since it launched, but there are just too few games for it. Especially since there’s no backwards compatibility with PSVR1.

But if I can use it with a PC too, it suddenly becomes a whole lot more appealing

Now that WMR is dead and the motherfuckers Meta/Facebook basically have a strangehold on the PC VR market, I guess it’s good to see some kind of competition coming down the pipeline. Even if it’s from Sony, who are also motherfuckers.

I think the best case scenario outcome from this is that it might spur Valve to get off their asses and maybe update and modernize their VR hardware if there are additional competitors generating interest in the market. The Valve Index and Vive Pro 2 are woefully overdue for more modern replacements. (Like maybe finally ditching the sensor towers? Pretty please?)

I will never buy a PSVR set, regardless of whether or not it works on PC, because fuck Sony. Not a single red cent to Sony. You know, the rootkit-on-a-CD, let’s-sue-people-for-watching-a-youtube-video people. I just can’t bring myself to trust them.
