Hey man I’ve been there. Tbh what got me thru it was pure spite for those who did me wrong, and hope for the future of videogames which give me joy. I hope you’re able to find joy too. Please PM me I’d you want to rant - I’m a great listener.

A response both wholesome and a great plot for an antagonist or anti-hero.

Be sure to post either your revenge or your the next game you enjoy my man.

Don’t… I’ve been there. Tried it even. And after living a bit longer, I can finally say with certainty that I’m glad I survived. Will there be a heck of a lot more suffering? Yes, of course. Life is suffering. That’s the whole point. And when you find something worth suffering for - and you will, someday; I didn’t believe it either but it is true - you’ll see beauty in it, value, reason to continue. If you think you’ll hurt yourself, call 988 (in the US), whatever your number is there. Or call a friend. Yes, they really do care. No, it is absolutely ok to bother them at 12:30am. IK it’s what we all hear and sounds dumb but it really will help. Get help. It’s a hard step to take, but I wish I had earlier. Heck, DM me if you have to and have literally no one else. I can’t promise the pain will go away entirely - it won’t. But it will get better. Life is worth it - even when you can’t see that all the time.

Hey it’s been a week so I’m checking in again. I noticed that you haven’t posted since this. I hope you’re OK. I’ve been worried, even though we’re strangers.

The hard part isn’t so much that I’m trapped in a prison of flesh that will in time fail me in every way as it rots away from the spirit animating it, but more that everyone else has to be a giant dick about it

Are you the same person you were five years ago? You can be someone new in five years from now.

I do so much work for future me, knowing I won’t see it. Er, until I do. Time’s weird. I want to change who I am so badly, but it’s an eternity away.

Your molecules probably already have ended up in both! Because our bodies are constantly exchanging molecules with our environment, not because you’re already dead

What if I was though, and like this is my dream, from when I’m a bug? :-P

C.L. Lewis blew my mind when I read this one take from him: what if like all of life is a chess game, and we are merely pawns in it… BUT we are also the player, moving ourselves around!?

I don’t think that’s the case, or at least there is no evidence of such, but that’s not the point, the point is to imagine what might lie just beyond the box that constrains our thinking too narrowly:-).

You could get a stand alone headset like a Quest 3 or a Pico 4 and get in on a slightly less good looking VRChat and have access to what amounts to mobile games but in VR (some of the standalone games are actually good but they’re kinda rare) or you could pair any HMD (including the two previously mentioned) with a powerful enough PC and play the good shit.

Even if they don’t get the results they might expect, I am glad there are some actual scientists looking into this. I think the stigma tends to prevent scientists from even studying this sort of field, to our detriment.

Thank you for taking a look. Yes, there is so much stigma that I was hesitant to even describe in this post the research that this medical school is doing. Still, I’ve found their publications to be quite interesting.
