Ugh, natto is one of my least favorite foods. I still make it for my wife because she loves it but it stinks up everything when it is fermenting…

I did not expect to like it, but really do. My only complaint is I find it difficult to eat without getting the stringies everywhere.

Ugh… I hate the stringies. Its the only food I’ve found for which I dislike the taste, texture, smell, AND appearance. I wish I could like it because I can’t even kiss my wife after she’s eaten it.

Do you mix it with soy sauce or something because I remember an nhk world video saying some Japanese people do that

Some people do. Some add hot mustard. I can’t handle it in any form so far.

Brace soul, natto is an “acquired taste” at best. Looks like a lovely meal all the same. Well done chef! 😁

Yeahh, morning shake is the best.

Took me about a week to get used to this kind of breakfast, from then on it’s been my preferred choice, on the rare occasion I actually eat breakfast these days (AKA when it’s free).

Really? That’s a pretty typical Japanese breakfast in terms of size. Fish, salad/pickles, rice, soup, and natto is pretty standard. My wife is tiny and would totally eat that every morning if we made it. She’s usually too busy to make the fish, but eats natto, rice, pickles/salad, and sometimes soup (more in the cooler months) every morning before work.
