    Israel will sign it. The US will say “See? They signed it” and nothing will change. We all know the US blindly trusts Israel’s word.

    Is it not enough? Yes.

    Is it a break with previous policy on Israel? Also yes.

    I doubt US support will stop before Israel’s current genocide attempt ends (though that would obviously be VASTLY preferable to being complicit in it). But I do have hope that this will finally destroy the ‘sacred cow’ status of Israel in US politics.

    It’s sad when realistic hopes are still immensely shitty options.

      It’s a good reminder that they don’t listen to their constituents unless their hold on power is threatened, it’s no coincidence this happens around the Michigan primary. Just like how Pelosi was content to cast all Palestine support as Russian interference, they’d rather craft a narative and have the media push it than reckon with their own mistakes.

    I’d be hopeful about this if the US didn’t state multiple times that Israel isn’t breaking international law, so technically their current use should be allowed.
