    Judges are very reluctant to sanction lawyers. Most punishments come from the bar association after 100+ people complain, otherwise they are ignored.

      I wonder how the judge would react if a lawyer just blatantly made up cases to back their argument. Whatever punishment - or lack thereof - for that should apply the same here, imo.

        Wasn’t one of the SCOTUS decisions a made up case so they could rule? I can’t seem to find it now.
