After rumours galore, the writer, who helmed the BBC sci-fi from 2010 to 2017, will officially make his return for Ncuti Gatwa’s season.
Moffat said of his return: "Yes, OK, fair enough – apologies to everyone I’ve very slightly misled – I am in fact writing an episode of the series of Doctor Who. Exactly like I said I never would. What can I tell you?
"There was begging, there was pleading but finally Russell agreed to let me have another go – so long as I got out of his garden. Working with old friends and a brand new Doctor I couldn’t be happier.
“Sorry I was a bit reticent on the subject for so long. It was all part of an elaborate plan that would have delighted millions but at the last minute I forgot what it was.”

he wrote some of the best rtd era episodes but what im most excited about is that it means there’s a bigger chance to get more moffat era characters and storylines. i really hope we see vastra and jenny again

There are currently two series of audio Paternoster Gang boxsets out (one still ongoing) from Big Finish. Strax continues to deliver in those!

Yea for sure … Moffat episodes within RTD seasons was basically peak Dr Who right (though 11th, ss 5+6 are my personal favs).

He is back writing a single episode. I imagine RTD will ask him back in the future as they clearly still get along.

The statement by Moffat himself would very strongly indicate so, yes.
And I agree: while he’s a great writer and was a good to great Doctor Who showrunner, Russell T Davies is the GOAT at both IMO and I hope he stays at the helm for many years!
I mean, Moffat wrote some of the best episodes of the RTD era and some of the worst of his own…

I’m kinda excited about this. Wonder if he’s actually doing the christmas episode as has been rumoured? Either way it’ll be good to see Moffat back!
